State of the Harrists

Since I really have not done a great job in updates, I thought I would get a whole family update done at once.

So far we have been surviving winter. It actually has not been that bad. We think God may be easing us into this winter thing, and next year He will bring it! But, that's fine, we'll take it that way. We love to watch the snow fall, and we are slowly getting used to driving in it as well.

Christopher is half way done with his school year, and has his February break coming up in just a few weeks. He is reading all the time now, and there aren't any words that he doesn't attempt. He is growing tall and likes to stand next to me to show me how much taller he has gotten. Thankfully, in his wonderful heart, he believes that mommy will always be taller than him, because that is what makes me mom. I hate to break the news to him on that one.....

Chris's 2nd semester of teaching is in full swing and going well. He is teaching a grad class and then also his youth development class. We are very thankful for his YD class, because he could almost teach it in his sleep, which clears up just a little bit of free time for us.

Aiden is getting HUGE. I can't believe how much he has changed in such a short time. In 6 days he will be 5 months old. He has definitely decided that our food is interesting, but doesn't like the taste of cereal too much. So, we are slowly moving into the solid food realm. He is definitely a "momma's boy", which I love. (Christopher used to be too, but now Dad is way cooler!) He talks and chatters almost non stop and we each have our own special way of making him laugh, which is infectious. His favorite time of day is bath time and he gets so excited when he knows its coming!

As for me, I am finding my way with my new job as well. I must admit, that being a stay at home mom hasn't been what I expected. In my head, my house would always be clean, our meals always cooked and tons of time for reading and blogging. Well, not so much. There are many days that my house is not clean, and we end up grabbing a pizza from down the road. But I wouldn't trade it for anything! I love being home with Aiden and picking up Christopher from school. I love that I can eat lunch with Chris or just have a day where Aiden and I snuggle the whole time. I will admit that my Type A neurotic tendencies make it hard for me to let that go most days, but I still love being wife and mom first. I have made many wonderful friends that I thank God for each day. Each of them have touched my life and made NH feel more like home.

Thank you again for sending us prayers and love. We are growing here in ways that we had not even imagined. We have found a church home and are going to begin the membership process this month. Chris and I are getting involved in ministries, and Christopher has joined Sunday school.

With 5 months down, we are settling in and getting into our groove. We are so thankful to be here. Can't wait to see what happens next!
